The Sweet Scent Of PVA Glue

Palette at FlickrTonight it was once again a chance to let our creative juices flow freely, and this time through various art forms we hadn’t touched since primary school! Thanks go to Sarah for “acquiring” a variety of bits from work, including some poster paints, glitter, tissue and sugar paper, as well as the classroom staple; polyvinyl acetate (PVA glue to you and me).

Inspiration came partially from our own rather-disturbed minds, but also from a wide selection of CBeebies characters, and these fuelled a great deal of debate – without looking at a picture, could you correctly colour in each part of Noddy’s clothing…? Mr Buttenshaw couldn’t. A new leader calls for a new cameraman, and after a short delay the pictures from the evening can be found in the usual place.

After all the arty-fartiness, Steph led us in a short devotional look at Luke 2:39-49, in which the young Jesus is separated from his family and stays at the synagogue in Jesusalem. Once this serious moment was completed we regressed once again, with an energetic game of what has unanimously become known as “Skittle Ball”.

This Sunday all Amicans left in Milton Keynes have another two chances to sample something a bit different in the church. Firstly, at 5PM the latest Cafe Church will be held at WECC. Here’s the full story from someone who knows what it’s all about:

Food & drink, chance to chat, time to worship and pray; time to learn and to discuss your faith and your experiences of God: Do you believe that you can be the person God intended you to be? Do you believe that you can fulfil His plan for you? Or are you guilty of being down on yourself, holding yourself back? Perhaps you don’t believe you’re good enough for God and his plans. At the next Cafe Church We’ll be exploring what God thinks, and seeing just how much faith He has in us! Come along this afternoon at 5pm and be surprised and excited by what God thinks of you.

Following this (or instead of, depending on what you fancy) is the latest Synergy event, organised by Bridgebuilder. Each month a different youth group from an MK church is invited to host everyone else, for an evening of whatever they normally get up to. This Sunday Newport Pagnell Baptist Church are hosting a “Sunset on the Summer” party, with ice cream and cocktails promised alongside the more usual worship time. Speak to one of the Amicus leaders if you would like further details.

Well, if I’m going to keep you entertained in the same way Captain Rew manages, I’ll need to leave you with at least one odd but ultimately funny web link. This week, I think it should be something for the latest crop of Amicans off to University to perhaps try, cos let’s face it – freshers don’t do much right? I present – Billy’s Balls (trust me it’s safe…).
